April 11, 2009 Saturday Winter Have to Lake Okechobee
Here we are in Lake Okeechobee at a KOA campground in the middle of a cow pasture. No lake in sight. We drove up to the embankment that you would think surrounds the lake, only to see a canal on the other side and way off in the distance, maybe the lake. This part of Florida is not interesting to drive through. It appears to be sugar cane land, with irrigation ditches along the roads. It has been very dry in these parts and we wonder if the lakes levels are way down because of the drought and irrigation. It is 90 degrees and humid, but the weather forecast for tomorrow is 90 degrees and less humid.
